Growing up, Jon was surrounded by serving and ex-serving armed forces personnel. Jon’s Dad was in the Army (Devonshire and Dorset Regiment), his Grandad and Uncles were in the Navy, and his Cousins were in 29 Commando based in Derriford.
Jon grew up supporting our Armed Forces Personal by volunteering at events with his Dad and fundraising to support veteran charities and events.
Jon regularly works with and campaigns on behalf of local veteran charities including the British Legion and Help for Heroes.
Jon has proposed the idea to have the unused building that was previously the Registry Office on Plymouth Hoe as The Plymouth Veteran Centre. It would be a place dedicated to our forces past and present where locals and tourists can pay their respects, view memorabilia and learn about Plymouth’s Heroes.
The Veteran Centre could host fundraiser’s to provide support to Plymouth’s Veteran Community.
