About Royal William Yard

Royal William Yard is one of the most significant groups of military buildings in Europe and now a working quarter of restaurants, galleries, offices and homes. Its problem has always been connection: it sits at the end of a hill, and the walking routes in and out are limited.

That is why Jon has been campaigning since January 2023 to reopen the footpath between Firestone Bay and King's Point at Millbay Marina, working with the Ministry of Defence, Plymouth City Council and Associated British Ports.

What comes up most in Royal William Yard

  • Walking and wheeling routes in and out of the Yard
  • Accessible parking and drop-off for disabled visitors
  • Condition of the Firestone Bay tidal pool and foreshore
  • Signage between the Yard, Devil's Point and the Hoe
  • Ferry and slipway access at Admiral's Hard
